An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Surveyor or Adjuster to join a specialist Structural Defects Services team, managing latent defect claims across the West Midlands and South West region.
This position offers a varied and rewarding workload, covering both commercial and residential properties. You’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of structural and latent defect claims from initial site inspection through to final settlement.

Key Responsibilities

Attend site visits to assess damage and diagnose the cause of structural defects.

Prepare detailed preliminary and final reports, providing clear and professional recommendations.

Oversee reinstatement works and appoint external engineers where required.

Review technical documentation and engineers’ scopes for accuracy and completeness.

Manage claims on a cradle-to-grave basis, maintaining communication with claimants, insurers, and other stakeholders.

Provide expert technical advice on building defects, repair methods, and policy coverage.

Support the wider surveying and design team by assisting with traditional surveying duties, including contract administration, repair scopes, and tender management.
About You

Qualifications: Relevant degree in building surveying, structural engineering, or a related field. Chartered status (MCIOB, MRICS, MICE) and/or insurance qualification advantageous.

Experience: Proven background in handling claims under Building Guarantee or Latent Defects policies.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building pathology, CDM regulations, Party Wall matters, and repair techniques.

Skills: Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Attributes: Calm under pressure, empathetic, and able to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Other Requirements:

Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.

Comfortable working remotely and managing workload independently.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
