Role Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and skilled Building Surveyor to join their team, focusing on educational projects at RIBA Stages 2–7. Key projects include:
1. An 8-classroom, 2-floor new build school.
2. Demolition of an existing block and designing/specifying a replacement kitchen and dining hall.
The ideal candidate will have experience in developing detailed specifications and taking them through the planning process. While being chartered is advantageous, we welcome applicants with proven experience in delivering similar projects.
Key Responsibilities:
● Develop and deliver feasibility studies and building surveys for new and refurbishment projects in the education sector.
● Take the lead in preparing detailed specifications, schedules of works, and tender documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with planning regulations.
● Oversee projects through RIBA Stages 2–7, ensuring smooth progression from design to completion.
● Conduct site inspections, prepare reports, and provide expert technical advice on construction, maintenance, and repairs.
● Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to meet project objectives.
● Liaise with clients and stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and high levels of satisfaction.
● Manage project deliverables, monitor progress, and attend site meetings to ensure all work adheres to the highest quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
● A degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline (RICS accreditation preferred).
● Professional membership with RICS (MRICS or working towards chartered status; APC support available).
● Demonstrated experience in developing specifications and navigating the planning process for RIBA Stage 2–7 projects.
● Strong knowledge of building construction and maintenance, with specific expertise in the education sector.
● Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce clear reports and documentation.
● Proficiency in relevant software, such as Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (or equivalent).
● A proactive and motivated approach with a track record of delivering similar projects successfully.
● Full UK driving license and willingness to travel for site visits.
