With a collaborative team culture and an ambitious growth trajectory, this is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded business at a pivotal stage of its development.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior CDM Principal Designer to take on a stand-alone role within the consultancy. Working closely with the Building Surveying and Project Management teams, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, providing expert health and safety advice, and embedding design risk management across projects.

This is a client-facing role that requires technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate independently while contributing to wider team success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015, leading health and safety coordination across multiple projects.
  • Provide expert guidance on risk management and compliance throughout design and construction stages.
  • Carry out pre-construction phase plans, hazard identification, and risk elimination/reduction strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with building surveyors, project managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake site visits across industrial, logistics, and commercial projects, ensuring robust health and safety practices are in place.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, best practice, and industry developments.
  • Contribute to the consultancy's growth by delivering a consistently high-quality service and building strong client relationships.
About You
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Principal Designer role (consultancy background preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and wider health & safety legislation.
  • Demonstrable experience across industrial, logistics, and/or commercial projects.
  • Able to work autonomously in a stand-alone role, whilst contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and client-facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential, with flexibility to travel.
Qualifications (Preferred)
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Membership of APS (Association for Project Safety) desirable.
  • Degree/HNC in a construction-related discipline advantageous.
What's on Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • The chance to work with a highly respected and ambitious consultancy.
  • Exposure to high-profile industrial and commercial projects.
  • Career progression opportunities within a growing business.
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment with autonomy in your role.
