We are seeking an experienced Associate Building Surveyor to join a prestigious, market-leading property consultancy with a strong international reputation. This role is based in Cambridge and offers the opportunity to work on high-profile, diverse projects, spanning commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. Key Responsibilities
  • Building Surveys & Inspections:
    Conduct comprehensive surveys on a variety of property types, including condition assessments, feasibility studies, and dilapidation surveys. Prepare detailed, clear reports outlining maintenance recommendations and refurbishment strategies.
  • Project Management:
    Manage surveying projects from inception to completion, coordinating site visits, liaising with contractors, clients, and multidisciplinary teams. Ensure timely delivery and adherence to industry standards and building regulations.
  • Technical Advice & Reporting:
    Provide expert advice on building pathology, conservation, planning permissions, and building regulations. Produce high-quality, precise reports and documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Client Engagement:
    Develop and maintain strong client relationships by delivering insightful, tailored solutions. Support clients in decision-making processes by offering innovative, strategic advice that aligns with market trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory & Quality Compliance:
    Ensure all work complies with the latest industry standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. Continuously update knowledge on relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Collaboration & Development:
    Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including planning, development, and investment professionals to support integrated project delivery. Contribute to the continuous improvement of service quality and operational efficiencies.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
  • Professional Accreditation:
    Possession of, or progression towards, Chartered Surveyor status (MRICS or equivalent) is essential.
  • Experience:
    A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a building surveying role, with a proven track record of managing diverse projects and delivering high-quality survey reports.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction techniques, and contemporary surveying methodologies. Proficiency in using modern surveying equipment and relevant software (e.g., CAD, BIM).
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
    Excellent analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to identify potential issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
    Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to clients and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships.
  • Organisational Skills:
    Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
