Join our Client as a Principal Forensic Investigator (Mechanical) and play a pivotal role in determining the causes of complex mechanical failures and incidents across domestic, commercial, and industrial environments. You’ll be part of a highly skilled technical investigation team delivering independent expert opinion to clients across insurance, legal, and corporate sectors.
This is a dynamic and multifaceted role that combines technical investigation with strategic input into health and safety processes across the wider organisation. From routine insurance claims to complex, high-value cases—including large marine or industrial losses—you’ll apply your engineering expertise to uncover root causes and provide detailed, evidence-based reports.
You’ll conduct site visits and laboratory examinations, collect and analyse evidence, interview witnesses, and occasionally dismantle or test machinery and components to establish failure mechanisms. The role also offers the opportunity to collaborate with external experts, design test methodologies, and contribute to continual improvement in investigative standards.
Beyond fieldwork, you’ll support the promotion and implementation of robust health and safety procedures and play a key role in maintaining the team’s reputation for technical excellence and integrity. This position is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer with strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills who thrives in an investigative and intellectually stimulating environment.
