You’ll lead and develop a technical team within a claims environment, combining engineering expertise with operational leadership. The focus is on guiding technical assessments, supporting complex claims, and ensuring excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across a portfolio of complex insurance claims, ensuring accurate assessments and effective outcomes. 

  • Lead, motivate and develop both desk-based engineers and field technical staff, fostering a strong performance culture.

  •  Support surveying activity and occasional site visits to assess damage and technical requirements. 

  • Participate in client meetings and represent the technical team professionally.

  • Drive performance against service level targets, audit requirements and quality standards.

  • Produce regular management information and technical reporting.

  • Promote best practice, continuous improvement and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge & Experience

  • A relevant degree such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying, or a closely related technical discipline (advantageous).

  • Proven leadership experience in technical or engineering teams, ideally within insurance claims, risk, or property disciplines.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to varied audiences. 

  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, capable of balancing remote leadership with occasional travel and field engagement. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • A full UK driving licence (if role duties include site visits).
