The Role
As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will work as part of an established Building Surveying team, supporting Directors and leading on a broad range of surveying and project-led instructions.
This role is ideally suited to a proactive professional who enjoys responsibility, client interaction and technical variety, while also contributing to mentoring and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Advising on building defects across a wide range of property types and ages
Preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) reports, lifecycle costs and maintenance advice
Acting as Project Manager and/or Contract Administrator on projects ranging from £50k to £3m+
Reviewing pre-construction information and overseeing RAMS processes
Acting as Principal Designer where required, including PCI packs, CPP reviews and H&S file preparation
Undertaking Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments
Completing pre-acquisition surveys for commercial, industrial, retail and residential properties
Carrying out Building Height Surveys and Structural Appraisals in line with the Building Safety Act 2022
Preparing and negotiating Schedules of Dilapidations for Landlords and Tenants
Providing Party Wall advice (desirable but not essential)
Monitoring development and project works on behalf of landlords, funders and other stakeholders
Supporting wider company initiatives including business development, service improvements, CPD delivery and mentoring junior surveyors and APC candidates
About You
MRICS qualified with a minimum of 2+ years PQE
Degree qualified in Building Surveying from a UK institution (RICS accredited, minimum 2:2)
Strong knowledge of construction methods, building pathology and relevant legislation, including fire safety
Confident in managing client relationships and delivering a high standard of service
Experience managing projects and ideally mentoring or managing others
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Highly organised, self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload
Comfortable working independently and in a hybrid environment
IT literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); AutoCAD skills desirable
Full UK driving licence required
Compliance & Training
Willing to maintain an in-date DBS check and CSCS card
Open to undertaking additional training as required (fully funded)
