We’re working with a forward-thinking claims business that’s looking to appoint a Desk-Based Commercial Claims Handler to manage commercial property claims end-to-end.
This role sits within a specialist commercial team and combines strong technical handling with modern ways of working. You’ll use smartphone video technology where appropriate to carry out virtual site inspections and customer interviews, allowing you to make early, well-reasoned decisions on liability, reserves and contractor appointments.
You’ll act as the main point of contact throughout the life of the claim, liaising with customers, brokers, clients and suppliers to keep everything moving. From instruction through to settlement, you’ll be responsible for cost control, communication and maintaining high technical and service standards.
This is a fast-paced desk-based role that suits someone comfortable with technology, confident in their judgement and keen to deliver a positive claims experience. Experience with business interruption claims will be important, as will a genuine interest in developing your technical knowledge further.
What you’ll be doing
Handling commercial property claims from first notification to settlement
Making early decisions on liability, reserves and contractor instruction
Using video technology to complete virtual inspections where appropriate
Managing communication between all parties involved in the claim
Controlling costs and ensuring claims are progressed efficiently
Maintaining strong technical standards and customer outcomes
What we’re looking for
Solid experience handling commercial property claims end to end
Background in commercial loss adjusting would be a strong advantage
Good understanding of business interruption claims and their complexity
Comfortable working independently and using initiative
Adaptable and able to manage workload during busy periods
CII / CILA qualified or working towards professional accreditation
