The Client has built a reputation for delivering commercially focused advice across the full property lifecycle, combining technical expertise with a creative and delivery-led approach. The successful candidate will play a key role within the building consultancy team, delivering a broad range of professional and project-led surveying instructions across the commercial property sector. The role will involve taking responsibility for both technical advisory work and project delivery, while also supporting the continued growth of the wider business.

Key responsibilities

  • Acting as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on commercial fit-out and refurbishment schemes, with project values ranging from approximately £50,000 to £20,000

  • Undertaking a range of core commercial building surveying instructions, including acquisition surveys, schedules of condition and project monitoring appointments.

  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating schedules of dilapidations on behalf of both landlords and tenants.

  • Working with a varied client base including occupiers, owner-investors, private equity-backed businesses, landlords and SMEs.

  • Supporting business development activity, including preparing fee proposals, contributing to pitches, attending networking events and helping raise the profile of the team in the market.

  • Providing guidance and day-to-day support to junior team members, helping to develop technical capability across the department.

Candidate profile

  • A qualified and capable building surveyor with a strong technical grounding and a commitment to delivering a high standard of client service.

  • A confident communicator who can build credibility quickly with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders.

  • Someone with the ability to manage a varied workload and balance multiple live instructions effectively.

  • A surveyor who is comfortable taking a visible role in client relationship management and new business activity.

  • An individual with the confidence and professionalism to represent the Client at meetings, presentations and industry events.

  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues would be advantageous.

Technical requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.

  • Chartered status and a proven background within a commercial building consultancy environment.

  • Strong experience in contract administration and cost management/control.

  • Good working knowledge of dilapidations legislation and practice.

  • Practical experience administering contracts under the JCT suite.

Salary and benefits

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.

  • Participation in a discretionary annual bonus scheme.

  • Flexible working arrangements, based on a 37.5-hour week with core hours and hybrid working available.

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, with additional office closure over the Christmas and New Year period.

  • Pension contribution package, including employer contribution.

  • Modern office space in central Manchester.

  • Additional benefits including gym membership, breakfast provision, wellbeing support and access to an employee assistance programme.

  • The chance to join a business with a strong commitment to sustainability, social impact and charitable initiatives.

This position would suit an ambitious Chartered Building Surveyor seeking a broader role within a dynamic consultancy environment, or a more senior-level surveyor looking for the next step in a growing and well-connected Manchester team.
