We are seeking an MRICS qualified Chartered Building Surveyor to join a growing consultancy and take a senior role in delivering a diverse range of residential and commercial surveying instructions.

This position offers the opportunity to lead technically complex projects, provide strategic advice to clients and manage projects from initial instruction through to completion. You will act as a trusted adviser, combining strong technical expertise with sound commercial judgement.

The role spans building pathology, major works delivery, compliance-led reporting and professional advisory services, with clear opportunities to progress toward Associate level.

Key Responsibilities

You will take responsibility for managing multiple instructions and delivering high-quality professional advice to a broad client base. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on refurbishment and major works projects typically ranging from £50k to £3m+

  • Preparing specifications, tender documentation and administering JCT building contracts

  • Investigating and reporting on building defects and construction-related issues

  • Preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) reports and advising on lifecycle costs

  • Undertaking Reinstatement Cost Assessments and pre-acquisition building surveys

  • Completing building height surveys and Building Safety Act related reporting

  • Preparing and negotiating Schedules of Dilapidations

  • Acting as Principal Designer, including preparation of Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and oversight of health and safety documentation

  • Monitoring development and construction works on behalf of landlords, managing agents and funding institutions

  • Supporting and mentoring junior surveyors and APC candidates

The role involves a hybrid working pattern, combining home working, site inspections and collaboration with colleagues.

About You

This role would suit a motivated and technically capable surveyor who is comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative professional team.

You will ideally have:

  • MRICS qualification

  • 2+ years post-qualification experience

  • Strong knowledge of construction technology and building pathology

  • Experience administering projects under JCT contracts

  • Confidence managing projects and client relationships independently

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required

Desirable Experience

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • Work across residential and mixed-use property portfolios

  • Experience acting as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations

  • Knowledge of Building Safety Act related surveys and compliance reporting

  • Strong technical report writing and client communication skills

  • Experience supporting or mentoring APC candidates or junior surveyors

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
