The Opportunity

An established and globally recognised built environment consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior / Associate Fire Engineer to join its growing fire engineering team in Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across commercial, residential, mixed-use, and complex developments.

You will play a key role in delivering fire engineering strategies, providing technical leadership on projects, and supporting the continued growth of the fire engineering capability within the business. This position is ideal for an experienced fire engineer looking to step into a leadership-focused role, contributing to both technical delivery and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver fire engineering strategies across a range of building sectors

  • Conduct fire safety assessments, modelling, and risk analysis

  • Develop performance-based fire safety solutions and engineering reports

  • Support design teams, architects, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles

  • Ensure projects comply with relevant fire safety standards, regulations, and legislation

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior fire engineers

  • Engage with clients and contribute to business development opportunities

  • Participate in design team meetings, technical reviews, and stakeholder consultations

About You

  • Degree qualified in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Significant experience working within fire engineering consultancy

  • Strong understanding of UK fire safety regulations and building standards

  • Experience producing fire strategies and technical fire safety reports

  • Familiarity with fire modelling tools such as FDS, Pathfinder, or similar

  • Working towards or already achieved Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a relevant professional body

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and support junior team members
