An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chartered Building Surveyor to join a well-established Architecture and Building Surveying team in the South West. Based from the Exeter office, this role offers the chance to work across a diverse range of projects, deliver high-quality professional services, support key clients, and contribute to the continued growth of the team.

The successful candidate will be involved in both professional and project-led instructions, with particular exposure to heritage, commercial, and mixed-use schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a broad range of building surveying services to a high professional standard

  • Lead and support heritage and refurbishment projects

  • Provide professional services including:

    • Building surveys

    • Contract administration

    • Dilapidations

    • Defect analysis

    • Planned maintenance programmes

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong and lasting relationships

  • Manage projects from inception through to completion

  • Prepare reports, specifications, and schedules of work

  • Support junior team members and contribute to mentoring and development

  • Assist with business development activities and help grow client accounts

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams

Skills and Experience Required

  • MRICS qualified (or working towards with relevant experience)

  • Strong background in building surveying within the commercial and/or heritage sectors

  • Experience delivering both professional services and project work

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong client-facing ability with a professional and proactive approach

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team

  • Full UK driving licence
