Our client is a respected, independent building consultancy delivering a full suite of building surveying and project management services across the commercial property sector. With a reputation for technical excellence, responsive service, and a collaborative culture, their expertise spans professional consultancy, due diligence, refurbishment, and asset management. As they continue to expand their footprint across the Midlands, they are now seeking to appoint a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor to act as second-in-command within their Birmingham office, supporting the Regional Director in leading and growing the team.
The Role
As Senior Chartered Building Surveyor, you will take on a pivotal leadership position within the Birmingham office, managing a diverse workload across both professional and project-based instructions. Acting as the Regional Director’s right-hand person, you will be instrumental in driving the consultancy’s continued growth in the Midlands, building client relationships, mentoring junior surveyors, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, commercially focused advice.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver a broad range of building surveying instructions including dilapidations, technical due diligence, pre-acquisition surveys, and refurbishment projects.
Support the Regional Director with day-to-day team management, business development, and regional operations.
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior and mid-level surveyors, promoting professional development within the team.
Prepare technically accurate and commercially sound reports, schedules, and project documentation.
Manage client relationships across investor, occupier, and developer sectors, acting as a trusted advisor.
Oversee refurbishment and repair projects from feasibility to completion, including contractor procurement and contract administration.
Contribute to business planning and strategy, identifying opportunities to expand the regional client base.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, health and safety, and internal quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
Professionally qualified Building Surveyor (MRICS) with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
Strong technical competence across the full range of building surveying services.
Proven track record of client management and delivering work to a high professional standard.
Leadership capability with experience mentoring or supervising others.
Commercially aware, self-motivated, and comfortable operating with autonomy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical matters clearly.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the Midlands region as required.
