We are seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join a growing team based in Leeds. This is a dynamic and varied role providing support to the Surveying team across a wide range of projects, including insurance work, primarily involving commercial buildings across all types of construction. The Senior Building Surveyor will be responsible for leading larger value projects and offering expert advice across all stages of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and advise on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites

  • Conduct acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys, and defect investigations

  • Prepare reports, schedules of work, and specifications

  • Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts to current technical standards

  • Manage large value projects independently, with a strong understanding of professional consultancy services

  • Apply relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations, and planning

  • Supervise and support APC candidates, fostering knowledge and professional growth

  • Comply with the company’s administrative procedures and health & safety regulations

Candidate Profile:

  • MRICS Accreditation required

  • Extensive experience in consulting engineering, surveying, architectural, and planning practices, with knowledge of the latest statutory requirements and technical publications

  • Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing

  • Preferred experience in insurance repair projects

  • Strong background in negotiation, supervisory, and leadership roles

  • Experience in delivering projects on time and within budget

  • Familiarity with CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall, and Building Regulation legislation

  • Strong mathematical, scientific, and IT skills, with a methodical approach to problem solving

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Flexible attitude to work
