Project Sectors
As a Cost Manager, you will work across a diverse portfolio of projects, including:
Residential - large-scale housing estates, urban regeneration, apartment schemes, extensions, and refurbishments.
Commercial - office buildings, business parks, workplace fit-out and design optimisation.
Healthcare - new builds, refurbishments, and framework projects for healthcare providers.
Other sectors - retail, heritage, and mixed-use developments, depending on client demand.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare cost plans, budgets, and estimates from feasibility through to final account.
Manage procurement strategies, tender documentation, and evaluation.
Provide contract administration, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
Monitor, track, and control project costs, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
Lead value engineering processes to identify savings without compromising quality.
Engage with clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure clarity on financial matters.
Manage risk, identify potential cost impacts, and propose mitigation measures.
Support continuous improvement in cost management processes and systems.
Skills & Experience Required
Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar.
Chartered status (e.g. MRICS) desirable.
Experience as a Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor in relevant sectors.
Strong knowledge of procurement routes, contracts (JCT / NEC), and cost planning.
Excellent numeracy, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
