Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Claims Handler to join their growing claims operation in Bristol. This role sits at the heart of the claims lifecycle, managing cases from first notification through to settlement. The successful candidate will deliver a high standard of customer service while ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution.

This position is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in insurance claims who enjoys ownership of files, working collaboratively with insurers, policyholders, contractors, and third parties, and contributing to a positive claims experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of claims from First Notification of Loss (FNOL) through to conclusion

  • Handle policy interpretation, liability assessment, and coverage decisions

  • Liaise with policyholders, insurers, brokers, loss adjusters, contractors, and third parties

  • Instruct and manage suppliers where required, monitoring progress and costs

  • Ensure claims are handled in line with policy terms, service level agreements, and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim records and correspondence

  • Proactively progress claims, identifying and resolving issues to avoid delays

  • Deliver clear, professional communication with customers throughout the claims journey

 

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in an insurance claims handling role (property, liability, or commercial preferred)

  • Strong understanding of claims processes and principles

  • Confident communicator with a customer-focused mindset

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple claims simultaneously

  • Good attention to detail and sound decision-making skills

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

  • Experience using claims management systems is advantageous

 

Qualifications (Desirable, Not Essential):

  • Cert CII, Cert CILA, or working towards professional insurance qualifications

  • Strong commitment to ongoing professional development
