Join a growing building consultancy delivering high-quality surveying services across commercial and residential sectors. You’ll handle surveys, defect diagnosis, refurbishment/reinstatement work, contract administration, and liaise with clients and contractors. You will work on-site and in the office, contributing to the growth of the business while benefitting from a supportive, modern consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake building and condition surveys, defect diagnosis, and technical due diligence.
Prepare professional reports: building survey reports, schedules of condition, dilapidations, and reinstatement scopes.
Manage refurbishment and reinstatement projects: establish scope of works, tendering, contract administration, and site oversight.
Liaise with clients, contractors, insurers, adjusters, architects, and other consultants.
Contribute to business development: support client retention, grow service-lines, and embrace modern approaches to surveying.
Support junior surveyors or graduates (depending on level) and help build the surveying team.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications & Professional Status:
MRICS certification, or strong non-chartered candidates with good experience will also be considered.
Degree (BSc Hons) in Building Surveying, Built Environment, or similar
Full UK driving licence (if required for site visits).
Experience in a consultancy or practice environment.
Skills & Experience:
Strong technical knowledge of building fabric, construction methods, defect diagnosis, refurbishment, and new build.
Excellent report writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
Competent in MS Office; familiarity with surveying tools/technology a plus.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and tasks accurately under pressure.
Proactive, self-motivated, with a client-centric attitude.
Experience or interest in modern surveying methods and technology-driven approaches.
Desirable:
Experience in insurance or major-loss/reinstatement work.
Exposure to dilapidations and schedules of condition.
Knowledge of historic/heritage buildings (Scotland context).
Business-development or team-mentoring experience.
