An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially focused Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) to help establish and lead a new BRPD team in London, working across a diverse and high-profile commercial client portfolio.

This senior role offers autonomy and the chance to play a key part in developing the service offering, building client relationships, and contributing to the wider senior management team. The position involves overseeing service delivery across multiple projects, ensuring effective communication between designers, clients, and contractors.

You’ll work closely with regional teams across the UK, providing specialist BRPD support alongside a multidisciplinary team of project and building consultancy professionals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop the BRPD service offering, supporting business development and growth.

  • Manage the BRPD team, including work allocation, resourcing, and financial performance.

  • Advise designers on compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act.

  • Collate and manage pre-construction information, identifying and resolving information gaps.

  • Undertake building regulations–specific design reviews during design and construction stages.

  • Provide specialist BRPD advice to designers and project managers.

  • Collaborate with other business units to promote cross-service opportunities.

  • Undertake other relevant building consultancy work as required.

Performance Criteria

  • Degree or Level 6 qualification (or equivalent experience).

  • Full (Certified) Registered Building Inspector.

  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and related legislation.

  • Proven leadership and team management experience.

  • Experience within a commercial consultancy environment.

  • Excellent client communication and relationship management skills.

  • Commercial awareness and ability to meet financial targets.

  • Proven track record in building trusted client relationships.

  • Strong people management skills, including handling challenging conversations effectively.
