This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for an accomplished Building Surveyor to take charge of regional performance and coordination across a thriving, national practice. The role focuses on driving excellence across established teams, supporting local office leads, and ensuring consistent technical and commercial success across the region.

You’ll act as the unifying force that brings together six high-performing Building Surveying teams (based in Birmingham, Bristol, London, Cardiff, Exeter, or Milton Keynes), guiding them towards shared goals and continued growth. Rather than building from scratch, this position is about refinement, strengthening collaboration, optimising performance, and evolving a service line that’s already delivering exceptional results.

With a clear mandate to enhance quality, profitability, and client delivery region-wide, this role offers both senior influence and the chance to make a measurable, long-term impact within a respected consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, direction, and operational support across all regional Building Surveying teams.

  • Work closely with lead surveyors in each national office to ensure consistency of performance, quality, and service delivery.

  • Develop and implement strategies that drive the continued growth of the Building Surveying service line across the region.

  • Oversee the financial performance of the regional business, managing P&L, forecasting, and resource allocation.

  • Align regional operations with wider company strategies in Project Management, Cost Management, and multidisciplinary delivery.

  • Support business development initiatives, including bid activity, client networking, and strengthening market relationships.

  • Promote collaboration, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing across offices.

  • Provide mentorship and performance management to senior surveyors, nurturing talent and succession.

  • Act as a visible leader across the national network, representing the business at client meetings, industry events, and internal management forums.

Candidate Profile

  • Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS or FRICS).

  • Senior-level leadership experience as a Director or Associate Director within a consultancy setting.

  • Proven ability to manage and inspire teams across multiple locations.

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in regional P&L ownership.

  • Track record in delivering strategic growth and maintaining operational excellence.

  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and influencing skills.

  • Capable of uniting multiple teams under a shared vision of delivery, performance, and professional standards.

  • Confident working across diverse project types and sectors.

Team & Structure

  • Each national office has an established Building Surveying lead, reporting into this regional role for coordination and strategic direction.

  • Collaboration across the region is key, with integrated links to Project Management and Cost Management teams.

  • The position reports directly to the national leadership team, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the Building Surveying division.

Package & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary reflective of senior leadership level.

  • Performance-related bonus.

  • Hybrid working model offering flexibility across locations.

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including pension and professional support.

  • Opportunity to shape the next chapter of a well-established and growing consultancy.

Summary

This role represents the next step for a confident, commercially minded Building Surveying leader. It offers full regional oversight of multiple teams delivering complex, high-value projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic vision, operational rigour, and people leadership,  ensuring the continued success and integration of a high-performing national service line.
